K’ Road revellers, rejoice! Swap out kebabs for ceviche and a Big Mac for a brisket patty Macdaddy with a glass of natural wine while you bathe in the neon glow of a full-service seated bar and communal area in the heart of St Kevin’s Arcade.
Co-owned by the brains behind highbrow eatery Culprit, Kyle Street and Jordan Macdonald, Lowbrow’s flagship Queen’s Rise eatery opened last year, quickly becoming renowned for their unique sandos, buckets of free-range organic chicken wings, classic soft-serve sundaes and fried birthday cake.
K’Road night owls will now be able to eat and drink well into the wee small hours with the same quirky menu items that made Lowbrow a firm favourite of the inner-city crowd. Available in St Kevin’s from 10.30am till late and they’re offering a $20 Arcade opening special: pick from a jug of craft beer or a bucket of 8 organic chicken wings.
Choosing the popular arcade was a no-brainer, says Macdonald. “We always knew that if Lowbrow found its audience we would love to expand and have another place with a smaller footprint that catered to the night-time crowd,” he says. “I can’t think of anything better than a bucket of fried chicken or a hot sando after a big night out in Auckland.”
The duo redesigned a small shopfront and pre-existing florist stand in the communal area at the centre of the arcade to create a brand-new full-service seated bar where they will serve low intervention wine and Sawmill, Garage Project and Brothers Beer on tap.
“For us, offering interesting and tasty drinks are essential to any menu whether it’s super casual or the most refined fine dining,” says Street.
Opening Hours: 10:30am till late
