Say hello to Egg and Spoon, a brand new eatery solely dedicated to the humble egg. The latest addition to K’ Road features—you guessed it—a yellow colour scheme resembling an egg yolk of course! The idea was hatched by duo Courtney MacKinnon and Ash Faithfull, two passionate foodies who’ve worked tirelessly to craft a marvellous line up of d-egg-ilicious eats.
“We chose eggs because they are so versatile,” says Ash. “Focusing on a single item means better executed dishes” Adds Courtney.
With breakfast and lunch offerings, you’ll be able to get your fix all day long!
Our top pick is the brekkie burger, a gem packed with fried egg (of course), bacon and a succulent free-range beef patty. Pair this bad boy with their wicked tatter tots for the ultimate hangover cure.
Or, opt for Ash and Courtney’s top pick, the Sweet Scramble. Just think, fresh hot scrambled eggs topped with cheese, caramelised onion, spinach drizzled with a spicy mayo all encased in a fresh brioche bun.
And, there’s no need for your herbivore pals to miss out! The epic vegan BLAT stars coconut bacon, spinach, avocado, tomato and a vegan aioli so good it may even convert carnivores!
The namesake dish will hit you right in the feels. Revamping a classic, the egg and spoon feature a smokey tomato and capsicum shakshouka in a jar, topped with coddled egg and served, of course with soldiers. Nostalgia has never tasted so good!
